The dry, acacia-dotted scrubland of Shaba National Reserve is where leopards are common and different species of zebra, giraffe and ostrich live. The Aberdare Mountains offer unique nighttime game viewing from tree lodges as predators and prey come to floodlit waterholes. The Lake Nakuru National Park, a sanctuary for the endangered Black Rhino, is an ornithologist’s paradise and known for its flamingos. And finally, the Maasai Mara, Kenya’s finest game reserve, home to the ‘Big Five’ and the world-famous seasonal migration.

Nairobi Stanley Hotel

Located in the heart of Nairobi the Nairobi Stanley (or Sarova Stanley) opened its doors in 1902 and has been a beacon of African hospitality ever since. The hotel is the first luxury hotel in Nairobi and has attracted the likes of the rich and famous for over a hundred years, drawn in by the Victorian style décor. The Stanley is located in the Central Business District and is less than thirty minutes from the airport, making it a prime location in which to stay.

Sarova Shaba Lodge

Location: Kenya

The Sarova Shaba Lodge is located deep in the desert in northern Kenya on the Ewaso Nyiro River. Named after the extinct Mount Shaba volcano the Sarova Shaba takes advantage of the barren landscape which surrounds it by providing a serene desert oasis for travellers. The Sarova Shaba Lodge experience extends beyond game drives as it has an excess of activities to partake in at the lodge itself. Enjoy bird watching, camel safari’s, feeding and watching crocodiles on the grounds itself.

Tree Tops Hotel

Location: Kenya

The Treetops Hotel is located in Aberdare National Park and was strategically constructed along an elephant migratory route and in front of a natural waterhole and salt lick. The hotel was originally a two room game viewing lodge when it became famous on February 5th 1952. Then-Princess Elizabeth was staying at the hotel when she ascended to the British Throne. Since then the hotel has expanded to a 36 room hotel complete with restaurant and bar.

Sarova Lion Hill Lodge

Location: Kenya

Sarova Lion Hill Lodge is located along the Lion Hill, which overlooks the flamingo friendly Lake Nakuru. A two-hour drive from Nairobe the Sarova Lion Hill Lodge is a favourite for visitors to Kenya because it incorporates the landscape into the lodge. The area surrounding the Sarova Lion Hill Lodge is a natural sanctuary for bird life and attracts over 400 species.

Mara Sarova Tented Camp

Day 3 Shaba National Reserve
We travel north of the Equator to Shaba, a reserve with animals such as Reticulated Giraffe, rare Hunting Dogs, Beisa and Somali Ostrich.

Day 4 Shaba National Reserve
Enjoy daily game drives through this harsh bush and visit a local Samburu school. Sarova Shaba Lodge or similar (2 nights) Included Meals: BLD

Day 5 Tree Hotel, Aberdares
After a stop at Nyeri, a market town where Lord Baden-Powell, founder of the Boy Scouts is buried, we arrive at the Tree Hotel. Watch forest animals come to the floodlit waterhole and salt lick from your balcony tonight. Tree Tops Hotel or similar Included Meals: BLD

Day 6 Lake Nakuru National Park
Stop at Thompson’s Falls then descend into the Rift Valley, arriving at Lake Nakuru. Explore the park to see its birds including many flamingos and the rare Black Rhino and other animals. Visit a local school. Sarova Lion Hill Lodge or similar Included Meals: BLD

Day 7 Maasai Mara
Today we drive to the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, birdwatching en route. After lunch we have a game drive to look for the ‘Big Five’. Mara Sarova Tented Camp or similar (3 nights) Included Meals: BLD

Day 8 Maasai Mara
We spend 2 days on morning and afternoon game drives. With more than 60 species of animals, the park hosts the seasonal migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra. We also visit a Maasai village. Included Meals: BLD

Day 9 Maasai Mara

Day 10 Depart Nairobi
After breakfast, we return to Nairobi via the Mau Escarpment. Stop briefly at the Italian Chapel, before arriving in Nairobi by lunchtime. A dayroom at Nairobi Stanley is reserved for your convenience before we transfer you to the airport for your onward flight. Included Meals: B
